I got the TFG X series in 3.25lb and 3lb they are stunning rods, and was told that these are built on the same blanks as the Free Spirit rods, so a mate of mine bought his round and we compared them and to be honest there is hardly any diffrence. I do believe that Matt Hayes and Simon Bond were in partnership at one time so it does make a bit of sense.
At the moment I am using a set of Century AK 47's originals, lovely casting tools, I also got a pair of AK 47's biulit on Armalites by Yateley angling, aint tried them yet, picked em up at the Sandown Show/Shop!!
The best set I got is of 3 Kevin Maddocks Challengers, built on Harrison Chimeras in 2.75, absolutely sweet.
I also use Century NG Spod and Marker rods, but I have picked up a Century Big Bertha Class D, it really takes some compressing but can cast a 12oz spod!!!! I think it wopuld make an excellent cat or shark rod. |
