Went over for 3 days with Hodster.
mainly to sort out the mobile home as it had been invaded and take some more stuff out for this season.
Lake was very quite when we arived, but after a couple of days puting some bait in the fish soon started to move about an show and I think if we had been there longer, quite a few fish would have come out
think ?? Darren had seven Carp in all up to 27.00, he moved swims a couple of times and worked hard for his fish.
Im sure he will coment when he gets time
I took a much more relaxed aproch as I was sorting out the mobile home etc

As Ron said we were out to the lake last week, it was good to be out there after the long cold winter.
By all accounts of the people we spoke to over in france it has been even colder over there and the snow and ice had not long been gone when we arrived. Looking at the trees and the flowers it seemed about 3-4 weeks behind the UK in terms of spring. It is no wonder the caravan had visitors this winter ... i know where i would have been sleeping if i were a furry french critter 
We arrived and things were quiet, not much showing which was far different to my previous trip in June last year. After a walk around we decided to plot up in the caravan swim off the back of the wind and in the deeper water, about an hour after arriving a fish rolled confirming we were right staying off the wind.
Gear set up, a bacon butty and then head down for a couple of hours zzzzzzzz. I had a 19 common about midday but things remained quiet. A nice curry Thursday night in the warmth of the van where we stayed chatting and listening to the wind and rain then it was off to sleep.
Saturday i was woken by a flyer of a take at about 6am and landed another 19. Not much showing so i took the rods up to the shallows as by then the sun was out and although not sun bathing weather it had become brighter. I had a 23 1/2 common that afternoon which gave me a run around and required the waders to get some use. At dusk it was back to base camp in the caravan swim. Ron took an 18 that night.
Sunday was also sunny and felt a bit milder so i headed back up to the shallows for another bash... although i sat it out till 7.30 pm nothing happened and there wasnt much moving up there. As i drove back around the lake to the caravan swim i could see Ron hovering by the Rods looking like there could be some action. Ron said he had heard some big fish crashing and to confirm that as i stood there getting the gear set up there were fishing showing over the far side. The fish looked to be where the pads normally are so they were probably only in a few feet of water. Things looked good for the night....The frost came and the temperature dropped but at midnight i had a 17 common then another take about 4am which kited behind the tree to the left of the caravan swim and unfortunately came off.
All too quick it was time to pack up as we aimed to be on the road for 7.30 am Monday morning 
3 days, 3nights fishing which for Etang du Bois was pretty slow fishing but as always an absolute pleasure to be there. As i drove up to the shallows one morning through the forest a huge bird of prey was standing on the track in front of me a magic sight. At night the only sounds were the owls calling in the forest. For the time we were there it was just Ron and I (and the coypu and the feathered friends)... having such a place to yourself is priceless and takes me far away from the crowds and hustle of fishing english club and day ticket lakes... to me Etang du Bois is what fishing is really about.... roll on the next trip when i will be aquainting myself with the big common

Funds are very low mate, am only able to get to fish in France by doing workparty's. Hopefully next year we will all be better off financially. Still nice to see whats coming out of the best lake in France,regards Trev.

Hi Trev. I done a couple of trips out in May. Did not get out last month but i am back out next week. Hopefully get a few and will post them up when i get back. Had plenty on both trips out so far this year
