I have been very lucky with my cat fishing .....Im on a run of 10 trips on the trot .....where my first cat landed was over 100 lbs
No 7 was my best ....with a 173.00 first take

Depends on Current, Angler, tackle ETC .

Hmmmm....just between us..... don't tell Ron ...... I don't like them that much......! 
He's got a few guiding sessions booked in Spain this year and he wants me to go over so you never know.... I could be converted!

But that's just me and I know loads of people think they're great. Like I say, I'm waiting to be converted! I still don't like to see them being mistreated though...... Have you seen the YouTube clips?

to be quite honest ...I used to think the same untill I fished for them ....but once you hook into a big one and feal the pure power ....that soon changes your mind

I too have never thought of catching a catfish, I have always been put off by my mates and seeing the state of their nets and mats afterwards,eels are bad enough! although I have had small cats by mistake, that were 8-10lbs, maybe I'll give em a go this year.

The texture of the fish suprised me to be honest. But after catching one I would love to catch a bigger fish.

What is the world record as a matter of intrest. I believe the blue catfish record is 643lb. Now that would be a nice suprise.
Should it of counted in the respect it was netted not caught with traditional methods?

I suppose that it is down to the governing body for the record to stand. There may be a few contributing factors not disclosed
