Does your insurance cover???

Does your insurance policy cover you for International driving.??

The reason I say this is mine charges me £15 for every trip I take. That was £60 in total last year on top of my preminum. Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad

lucky ron, may I ask who you are with?? as we have to get seperate cover.....  Crying or Very sad

The fact you get cover is great. Why don't you have a green card. I thought you needed that when abroad for insurance legality.

I've never been required to pay extra at all, I simply have to notify them... The only time I have to pay extra is to include another driver for the duration of the trip, which is fair, I 'spose.

If I were you, I'd tell your insurers that, on the strength of this requirement, you will be looking for a new broker asap... I bet they will then quash the fee!

Different country same problems

Insurance costs me about 400 pounds a year but that is with a unlimited green card (which is manditory in the EU)
EU wide brakedown cover costs approx 80 pound a year .
Big Ron

How strick are they over there ??...referance break down triangle and spare bulbes etc

I know we are supost to carry them ....but I think after traveling abroad for nealy twenty years ....I have become a bit complacent ...and dont think I comply ....with what I should  Confused  Confused

In 8 years I have not had a police check but the safty kit is checked each year at the APK (our version of the MOT)
Required items include fire extingusher, warning triangle, tow rope, Hivis vest, basic first aid kit - set of bulbs if traveling in france . You must wear the hivis vest if you have to work on the car at the side of the road - the police are very hot on this
It's a case of being sencible  - if you brakedown there is a high probability that the police will stop to help and if you dont have the kit they get upset .
Random checks very unlikly
Big Ron

Thanks Andy.
Val

I don't pay any extra for driving in france Very HappyLaughingVery Happy
