Motivation

What motivates you as an individual to go fishing. With myself it is going out and enjoying the social aspect of the fishery. To exchange and ideas on rigs or tackle or area's of the lake.

The size of the fish does not bother me as long it is clean and treated with care on capture. I would be lying if the trophy fish is not saught after, but by going out I will not put pressure on myself to catch that fish. I suppose in one way I have never been fortunate to go to a fishery where this fish may be . I do enjoy catching any fish that will take the bait big all small.

I also get alot of pleasure out of seeing others catch as to be a witness to what could be there PB also motivates me as well.

How about yourselves??

I have found that my motivation has changed somewhat over the years I have been an angler  Very Happy  Very Happy

When I started as a young lad ....it was just to catch anything that swam in the local park pools or canels etc.

Then as I started to understand more about my prey, it changed to lakes and Rivers.

I have fished for all most everythink in my many years of being an angler and there are still a few Dreams I want to forfill, Like fishing in India for the mighty Mahseer  Very Happy  Very Happy To name just one  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy

I can see what you mean The king 's fish. I found these on a Indian fishing holiday. I watched a programme on discovery Jungle Hooks, these fish are beautiful to see. It is a shame they hunt them as vermin! in some continent.
Big Ron

Yes they are very special fish ....in India, you are not alowed to take them out from the water .....thats why most pictures you will see, are like the one above  Very Happy

What excites you about this species Ron?
Big Ron

the LOOK is one of the things ...I think they are very impresive  Very Happy  Very Happy
I'd also class them as wild fish .....somthink that we cant fish for to offten .....maybe thats why I like to fish on Rivers  Very Happy  Very Happy

I fish so that I can see them.... it's not so much about the fight (though don't get me wrong....I love that feeling of almost being connected to the fish telepathically. Sounds odd...don't know how to put it into words really but that focus and the connection between you and the fish as you feel its movement, whether it's ready to come in....whether it's headed for snags...) I think carp are truly beautiful though, and the same goes for Mahseer! (but not for catfish ... Laughing  Laughing )

Also, I stress a bit at work and just being outside, watching birds, seeing the odd weasel and so on really does me good.

mostly I have found going fishing relaxes you, from the normal everyday stresses, the scenery, the catch, the excitement of whatever size of fish you bring in, whether fishing in a group or on your own the pleasure of it is priceless....

I can relate to the relaxtation of the bank. I enjoy waking up and smelling the fresh air more so than exhaust fumes everyday.
activecarper

yeah know what you are saying carp-g, it's amazing how quickly you feel at ease once on the bank.

A week is never long enough when you go. All the build up and before you know it your back at work.
activecarper

I agree, but then you can start making plans to go again.  Laughing   Laughing

If only thay was true. LOL
activecarper

do you not fish very much then??
carp-guru

Not as much as I used to. Certain thing hold me back work etc. I have looked at giving up all my syndicate waters and just concentrate on France waters for 3 times a year instead of going 2/3 times a week over here. When I say 2/3 times do one nighter's count.

Steady with your reply LOL
activecarper

it's not good when work and other things stop you from fishing as much as you woulk lkie to, but it sounds nice for you to be able to go to france three times a year, but to cut out your normal fishing seems quite drastic, do you think you would miss it?? plus I know myself when I havent been for ages , it seems to take its tol, and gets quite depressing, what do you think??
carp-guru

I suppose I will. Add up the fisheries that you are in plus the rod licence's that's one trip. I goes back to to motavation again. I can get a multiple ferry ticket for the price of one lake membership , the fisheries within France depending on your own goals are not that expensive.
activecarper

I know what you are saying about french trips, and yes they are fantastic, I just think it would be a shame to stop fishing here just for that, maybe you could compromise?? and do day ticket waters instead??  its worth a thought.
carp-guru

That's a thought. We could decide on a calender date for our own Social event.
activecarper

then you wouldn't miss out... nice one  Laughing
