Plastic baits

We very often use plastic baits.... I love that feeling of certainty that you've still got a bait attached and they've produced very good results for us.
How do you feel about them? Convinced or not?

I quite like using plastic corn over a bed of boilie and pellet / partimix. Another good bait I have found is plastic maggot especiallly during the winter months on a Korda maggot clip ( medussa rig ). I use them over a bed of hemp and maggot

I havent really tried just plastic baits for carp fishing, although I do use a small piece of plastic/rubber corn to tip a boilie/particle,which turns it  into a critacally balanced bait with an extra visual aid.

Thinking on the plastic bait scenario does the plastic emmit any scent in it's make up. I must say I would feel confident on dipping this bait the same as the bait being used to remove any residue of plastic etc.

Why would a artificial bait attract a fish , more so than a fresh bait. I have spoken to somebody from Enterprise baits . The fake products do contain a chemical which has proven to bring fish on. What is it , he wouldn't say Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad  Shocked

I do that as well.  Adding a plastic popup style bait to a boilie or pellet give me a neutral wieght and can also give some visual stimulation
Big Ron

Yes I agree  Very Happy but my main reason for the plastic bait ...is that it will be on there all night ....as in many lakes I fish in france ....if you just had a normal bait ....you bring it in ...in the morning and its gone  Shocked  Shocked

Big Ron

Going back a bit ....but Rod H used to do one caled claw buster ...Solar used to do one also and John Baker used to do a dip you could soak them in to make them hard ......but the plastic boilie I use now is much easyer and better in my opnion  Very Happy  Very Happy

I have been thinking of  buying some plastic boilie's,  which is in your opinion the best - they are not avalable in the tackle shops over here so i will need to order via the web

How things have changed over the years. What will come next after the  plastic boilie

i fish a lake near me where i use 10mm multiplex freezer boilies, with this i used a sliced in half piece of pop up corn, just enough to balance it a bit, Enterprise p/up corn, tuttie frutie flavoured. it always works very well, especially with the smaller carp, they were going mad on it. I ran out of the tuttie frutie corn on my last trip half way through the session and changed to the plain flavoured corn, the takes dropped by a good 80%, so as mentioned carp i reckon can definately sense or smell the difference in the artificial product.
