I have found a property within France that looks rather inviting as a holiday home / buisness complete with lake.

The dilema I have is do I buy to spend a week or two there a year or just sell up here and go. The only thing is the education system appears to be better , the way of life slower but will the kids benefit from a move at the ages of 12 and 9??

The way that this country is going forward the kids will never be able to afford a house unless i leave it to them in a will. At least by buying a property outright it will give them security if they choose to stay???

get on the property ladder over here, make your money and then take it to either France or Spain.

well, this is a dilemma for you, I myself personally would not miss out on a chance of a lifetime, but, it's your decision, and you must be torn, your kids would settle in nicely, they are at that age when they could easilly, any older they would prob not forgive you, if you had somethng to keep yourselves in business, and in work that is an added bonus, but you would have to make sure you had lots to occupy the family, as depending on where you were things to do are few and far between, and missing out on what we normally take for granted over here is something you would have to get used to, the french are great people, yes they do have immigrant probs but who hasn't?? I dont believe they are as bad as our problems tho, we supprt them with everything here, you know what I mean.... but the french government accept them with jobs and if they are able to support themselves, plus pay into the system, maybe our government should get into that way of thinking..

there are many good things to live in france for, but, make sure you think of everything befor making the decision, it would be terrible if you decided two yrs down the line you wanted to return.... things would be far more expensive to come back and start again here... hope this has helped.

I know this was a late reply, but you prob made your mind up by now, but it would be interesting to know how you did.

don't forget that over there you are the immigrant Exclamation  the locals in some of the more out of the way places view us with a certain amount of distrust... they only ever hear about the english lager louts so tht's what they expect...
