HI Trev and welcome back mate !!!
Hope them mossy bites clear up sounds painful
Good write up mate, its interesting reading how each of us get on as we tckle the water for the first time. Lessons are learnt and form the basis of the plans for our future trips.
Well done on your catch mate, you probably did it the hard way without a bait boat but you still managed to land fish using good old tradditional methods.
The otters are probably coypu... i only saw smallish ones but i have seen some pretty huge ones on La horre a few years back they looked the size of dogs
I may be with you in September, i'll let you know

Hi Ron, I have seen coypu before on JoJos 2 and these were a lot smaller, they came from the stock pond area and entered the main lake via the dam, I myself was not 100% certain but Steve was convinced these were otters,in fact he was over the moon at seeing them!!
Hi Darren, yeah mate it was hard work mate, but the heat really was high,I wouldnt be surprised if it didn't hit 30 on Sat -Mon, and the natural was simply everywhere, i was thinking of trying to hair rig a few of the massive tadpoles(HaHa). The feeding times were definetly 1st light and teatime-ish,not one fish caught during the nite, which gave me time to kip.
I have mistakenly bought home the cover to the element on the burco, but the shop Gamm Vert (my favourite shop) sells hardware and should be able to help us out,I filled out the log book daily, and there is plenty of loo roll.
Hi Ron, Steve has asked me if I want to buy the rest of his days and give them to my son, I thought it only right to ask 1st to see what the conditions are on this. all the best,Trev. |

Trev, when you are a full member next year, you can use your weeks to take a family member
But as I said before " it only applies to full members "
As for Steve, the time he has left is for him to use or not ....its his choice, he did not jouin with the understanding that he could sell them on !!
if he does not want to use them ....its his losse |

Hi Ron, fair enough mate, just thought I'd ask as steve asked me.
Hi Paul, yeah mate the last double swim by the inlet is where I saw most activity, there are loads of reeds and lillys, and also the most mossys!! I found it comfortable with 2 rods, you need waders to land the fish. I should imagine that there are some lumps out there by the sound of the crashing and jumping. I waded right out and it only came to just below my chest and I'm 5'10. As I am not that experienced at fishing amongst lillys I didn't feel comfortable with casting to the fish right at the far end as i was not sure of safely landing it,I wrote about it in the log,but that is where the most activity was for the 8 days we were there, I also saw the big mouth carp cruising on the top,he seemed to be feeding like a basking shark, scooping all the flies and insects off the top. Like I mentioned I spodded up causing a major disturbance and it ruined my chances there but I did manage a 20+lber at 2am and lost a couple of bigger ones(like you do!). With a nice quiet baitboat you should do really well, but the mossys really are on you up there probably due to the still water, and the sun hits you smack in the face at tea time/sundown. Woodpeckers are that end as well as kingfishers, didnt see the woodpecker but the kingfisher was really busy. I couldnt get anything to take off the top, so that's a challenge that I'm right up for next time. Sounds like September could be a right old social, can't wait to meet you all and pick your brains, all the best,Trev. |

hi trev... it would be unusual for it to be an otter as the french hunt anything that moves ... this is why you hardly ever see ducks over there... it might have been mink as they will go in the water... |
