Oh yes just a few days left.
Got all my gear sorted today. Tried to test a new solar panel today, cloud and rain, so it was not a great success. The long range weather looks good for the trip.
Looking forward to turning my van into the track for the first time |

Cheers Ron,
Well my first trip to the lake was all i hoped it would be.
The journey to the lake was a good one that saw me leave home at about 1.30am and arriving at the lake at about 11.00.( I would have got there slightly earlier but had a slight detour ) I used the tunnel for the first time after many years of taking the ferries and i must say it was far easier and alot quicker.
When i arrived at the lake and drove the van over the dam wall for the first time the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. The lake looked absolutely stunning
Ron and Trish were both there and made me feel at home straight away. They have created one of the nicest places to be and it felt good from the off. Ron took me for a walk down to the other end of the lake to the shallow end. As soon as we stepped into the swim we could see fish, some cruising and some of the fish bubbling about on the bottom. This was going to be a place i can relax at. |

I did not put any rods out the first day until very late in the evening as i spent the day relaxing in the company of Ron & Trish at the caravan. This was one of the reasons i decided to join the syndicate, no pressure fishing with no rush. Well not for me anyway. I have always fished very hard from the start when in France as you have just one week to get it right, but not this time. I knew i would be spending a good amount of time on this lake and a relaxed approach was needed.
The first night on the lake had a real magical feal about the place, the wildlife was absolutely fantastic. I was set up down the far end of the lake in the shallows. It felt just like being in Jurrasic park, minus the big scarey Dinosaurs. Kooko's,Owls,Herons, Deer and the frogs.
The next day i had my first fish from the lake, a mid twenty common. This fish tore off and faught like a fish of twice it's size. Off the mark and really happy i did not again fish much that day but decided to get in the lake and have a good feel about on the bottom |

I had found some good spots to put the rods on and decided to introduce some bait to the area's and get the rods marked up for these spots.
This had been a good decision as over the next 24 hours saw me bank 10 fish and drop a couple. All the fish had been caught during daylight with only one pull coming just as it got light.
The fish all came from the baited spots, and all rods were waded out and placed in position by hand, i even had to lift one rod out as when the bait was being placed onto it's spot in the pads a mid twenty common nearly picked it up straight away. This would have been no good as my nets were back at the swim on the far bank.
I had one of the most exciting days fishing i have had in a long time, the takes and the fights that day wore me out.
The next day Ron took me out to show me were everything was i needed in the local town. |

The action was not to stop as on the morning of the last day i had a cracking brace on at the same time, this coupled with a few fish the evening before ended a short but very productive session on a high.
After the brace i was left with one rod left out and i decided to not put out the others but to start getting my gear into the van when the rod screamed into life and a nice mirror lay in the bottom of my net.
I must say a big big thank you to Ron & Trish for all they have done to make the place so special.
And a really massive thanks to Trish for cooking some cracking food whilst i was there. It's a shame your not there next week when i'm back for another few days |
