I was told by my fishfarmer friend Paul....they are a very good indicator for the quality of the water .....

Big Al, I think you may have your wires crossed here buddy. King carp are a strain of carp we all fish for in most waters.
Do you mean the "Big Mouth Carp" of which two were introduced to give a good indicator of water quality?

sorry, yes those weird big mouth things.
never heard the water quality thing, they're still wierd things. |

Think of canaries down the mines.... the big mouth carp are sensitive to water quality etc and the theory is that they'll be the first to show signs of distress if there's a problem. (Poor things... )
They are weird looking though aren't they? |

the big mouth carp...are they the same as the monsters on the volga delta in russia and alot of the bigger eastern european waters?? they grow huge near the big hydro-powers plant dams in russia. |

never caught one but saw andy little get a few in a video of his in bulgaria, awsome fighting fish by the looks of it. to catch a fish that size off the top must be amazing, you can tell by looking at them where they prefer to feed. |

Goodness me, anybody ever caught a big mouth carp ? That 70+ looks like the girl my mate was trying to chat up last night
