Must admit not being a sponsered angler ( I have never been a big amount of bait man ) and for the last 3 years I have been using plastic ones on my rig
I tend to use what ever is to hand ( as long as its good quality ) and I can get it at a good price ( Tight northener LOL )
but the one thing I do belive in ...is fresh will out fish shelf life on most waters as Im sure they can sence the preservatives in a shelf life
but at the end of the day its what ever gives you confidence

Fresh every time as well
I do use a lot of bait through the course of a year, in fact i have 2 x bait freezers.
This is mainly due to the types of waters i fish. Not much angling pressure with a low stock and plenty of natural food items. Bang the bait at them in the spring when they wake up and as the spring turns to summer i find less is more, if you get what i mean
Get em looking for it.
I to have been using plastic over the last few years and have had some great catches on it. I think it offsets the wieght of the hook nicely and behaves a bit more like a freebie.

Had a few nice fish on the new bait I am trying out at the moment. Krill and Fruit X. Nice fish based bait, with a hint of fruit as the bait suggests. |

I have been using a bait with no flavour what so ever for some time now.
Works fine and is cheap as chips. Good quality food ingredients and no chemicals like artificial sweetners. The reason for this is not that artificial are not as good as natural it's just some of the synthetics have been used for so many years now that i like to leave them out of my bait.
Having said that if i am going to only fish a water on a one off or very occasionally( as l;ong as it is not a heavily fished water) i will use a low level flavoured bait. |

Catcherbaits have a bait called "Veggie" No flavour nor smell and as it suggests 100% natural vegatables. Used a few times had a 20 but nothing else. |

Just like you said in that article Ron it's like a bait thats been in the water for some time.
There has been lots written about washed out baits but how many anglers actually bother. |

Well i have spent the last few years making my own baits from home and i can honestly say my bait stands up in the crowd along side the best bait business's out there. Only wish i did this years and years ago as i can tweak my baits according to where i fish and what taste the fish like from venue to venue! My catch results have significatly improved since i went to the trouble of buying my huge mixer and compressor and the initial out lay was expensive but has payed for itself time over now. But also a few friends like my bait also and that is a great feeling when you see your mates with big smiles? |
