I have often wondered if there is an advantage with either of these systems. I use a big pit in away. I use Shimano Power Aero 10000 XTE. These have a bait runner system intergrated into the front spool which allows full control when playing a fish.

I have been looking closely at the Daiwa Basia but a cost issue does creep in.

What system do you support?

I thought a larger reel would be used for the cats

my take on it is that a big pit is what you want for everything, you can use it in a puddle just the same as an inland sea.

currently use longcasts but would love a set of Basia's.

what do you guys think about Daiwa Entoh 5500's bearing in mind i'm fishing Chanty next year.   I reckon i'll be putting them on Free Spirit Hi S 12ft 6in 3.25lb rods.

i'm definatly getting new rods and just fancy a change of reel and cant afford the Basia's, nothing wrong with the longcasts at all, just fancy treating myself.
