I use the Shimano 8000gteb's, I don't fish massive waters, only upto about 45 acres. They are ideal for me and will do anything i want them to do, I let the rod do all the work and take all the stick, the reels there to take up the line or let it out if the strain gets too much.
As for big cats??, i would most likely need something stronger, but i only come into contact with the smaller ones so needn't worry too much. |

I've just gone from my trusty shimano longcasts to a set of the daiwa infinity x 5000br, cant say how they are yet as aint caught a fish on em, but i used to have a set of the daiwa entohs and they were brilliant (but as I like a baitrunner I got the infinitys) so if they perform like them I will be very happy. |

I prefer front drag reels as i find the clutch so much better. I used to use shimano 10k's but switched to Basia's 2 years ago and haven't looked back. Baitrunners are heavy and unneccessary imo. I've also stumbled across Daiwa ss2600's for my pond rods which i have had converted by spool converters to QD. Dying to see what the clutch is like but keep bloody blanking !!
