Is there a casting technique to using this rig. Due to the lenght of the rig why doesn't it tangle on the cast?

When casting a very long one I used to pva string it up around somthink

Dont think so, as a part of casting is to compress the rod
Not sure you could do that keeping it high

I would say that compression of the rod would not be of priority but the way in which the rig sits!
